Headaches
Headaches can be debilitating and significantly impact your quality of life. Whether occasional or chronic, various factors can contribute to headaches, including poor posture, muscle tension, spinal misalignments, and stress. At Jiwa Chiropractic & Wellness, we specialize in identifying the root causes of headaches and providing personalized treatments that can help alleviate pain and prevent future occurrences.
Common Types of Headaches Treated:
Tension Headaches: Often caused by muscle tightness and spinal misalignments, tension headaches can cause a dull, aching pain, typically around the forehead or the back of the head with tenderness felt in the scalp, neck, and shoulders.
Migraines: Intense and often accompanied by nausea, light sensitivity, and visual disturbances, migraines may be triggered by various factors, including stress, dietary habits, or misalignments in the spine.
Cervicogenic Headaches: These headaches are typically felt on one side of the head caused by issues in the neck, such as misalignment or tension. It can start in the back of your head and move to the front, behind your eyes and movement of your neck may worsen these headaches.
Low Back Pain
Low back pain is one of the most common conditions affecting people of all ages and lifestyles. Whether caused by poor posture, muscle strain, or spinal misalignment, it can significantly impact your daily activities and overall well-being. We are dedicated to helping you find relief from low back pain and restore your mobility.
Common Causes of Low Back Pain:
Muscle Strains & Ligament Sprains: Overuse, lifting heavy objects improperly, or sudden movements can cause muscles and ligaments in the lower back to become strained, leading to pain and stiffness.
Herniated or Bulging Discs: When discs between your vertebrae shift out of place, they can press on nerves and cause intense pain, tingling, or numbness.
Poor Posture: Prolonged sitting, slouching, or incorrect body mechanics can lead to misalignments in the spine, which often result in chronic low back pain.
Spinal Misalignment: Misalignments in the spine can disrupt nerve function, leading to pain and discomfort in the lower back, as well as other areas of the body.
Degenerative Disc Disease or Arthritis: Age-related changes in the spine can lead to joint and disc degeneration, causing pain and stiffness in the lower back.
Whiplash
Whiplash is a common neck injury that typically occurs due to sudden, forceful movements of the head, often as a result of car accidents, falls, or other traumatic events. When the head is quickly jerked forward and then backward (or vice versa), it can cause strain or damage to the muscles, ligaments, and joints of the neck and upper back, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility.
Our goal is to relieve pain, restore mobility, and promote healing without the use of medication or invasive procedures. Care for whiplash may include spinal adjustments, massage, and rehabilitation exercises. These are helpful to restore muscle strength, improve stability, and prevent future injuries.
Sciatica
Sciatica is a condition that occurs when the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back down through the buttocks and legs, becomes compressed or irritated. This can result in sharp, shooting pain that travels from the lower back or buttocks down one leg, along with numbness, tingling, or weakness. Sciatica is often caused by spinal misalignments, muscle imbalances, or a herniated disc that puts pressure on the sciatic nerve.
Our treatments aim to address the root causes of sciatic nerve compression. We also provide guidance on posture, body mechanics, and exercises to strengthen the muscles supporting the spine, reducing the risk of future sciatic flare-ups.
Chiropractic Care for Kids
Did you know that kids can receive chiropractic care? Just like adults, children also benefit from chiropractic care. Children’s bodies are constantly growing and developing, and chiropractic adjustments can help ensure that their spine and nervous system remain healthy and aligned. Whether your child is dealing with a specific condition like colic, experienced a traumatic birth, or you’re simply looking to support their overall well-being, chiropractic care can be a safe and effective option. Adjusting little ones look different than adjusting adults. The technique Dr. Joanna uses is more gentle and very specific to the child’s needs. She is dedicated to providing effective chiropractic care for the whole family.
